Citroën was the brand that increased its sales the most in 2023

Oversil, the company’s exclusive importer, was awarded the Sudamericano de Oro for the year-on-year increase of 44.2%.

Citroen was the brand with the greatest growth in the sales of the automotive sector during 2023, reaching an average of eight vehicles sold per day in Uruguay and positioning itself at the regional level as one of the references in this segment.

Due to this performance, with 2,904 units sold in the year and a year-on-year improvement of 44.2%, Oversil, exclusive importer of the brand in the country, was awarded the South American Gold, award given by Stellantis, a group that brings together 14 iconic automotive brands, to whoever achieves the best market share in Latin America.

Martin Soler, director of Citroën Uruguay, echoed the operation, which involves 242 vehicles per month, 8 every day or 1 every 3 hours. “It is clear that Uruguayans value and trust,” he highlighted.

Along these lines, Soler highlighted: “This recognition has a lot of value for us as a team, because we know that standing out in market share At the regional level it is not something that is achieved every day.”

José Guilherme Torezim, Zone Sales Manager of Stellantis Latam, presented the award and stated that “this recognition is a testimony to the exceptional performance of Citroën Uruguay throughout Latin America during 2023″.

In this way, Citroën continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark with 5.1% of the market share. Thus, it is located in the top 10 of the Uruguayan automotive market, in which it rose two positions compared to 2022.

Car sales on the rise

The latest report of the Automotive Trade Association of Uruguay (Acau) revealed that the car sales 0km grew by 9.9% year-on-year during 2023, driven by a dollar cheap and increasing purchasing power of the Uruguayans.

Although they did not reach a record, sales reached 60,487 new units in the 12 months, only 570 units away from the maximum level, which occurred in 2013.
