The Foreign Ministry in Vienna confirmed on Saturday the death of the man, who had apparently lived in the Southeast Asian country for several years. Representatives of the Austrian embassy in Bangkok are in close contact with the relatives. According to The Nation Thailand newspaper, a suspect has been arrested. It was a 37-year-old from Morocco who had already confessed to the killing, according to the reports, which were picked up by the Kronen Zeitung, among others. The Upper Austrian’s body was discovered next to a road on the island of Ko Pha-ngan on Thursday. She had severe head injuries.

The two men are said to have started arguing in the later victim’s house. According to The Nation, they were friends. The suspect – he was arrested on Friday – said he left the house but the 42-year-old followed him. Then he struck with a steel object from the victim’s pickup truck. According to the Thai media, a police officer said the murder was being investigated.

The victim is said to have worked as a DJ

Ko Pha-ngan is a popular holiday island in the Gulf of Thailand. It is known for its monthly Full Moon Party. According to media reports, the 42-year-old also worked as a DJ.
