One slightly injured person, two damaged vehicles and significant disruptions in early morning traffic: This is the outcome of a traffic accident on Monday morning in the Neustadt district of Wels. At the intersection of Oberfeldstrasse and the B137 near the Wels-Nord junction, a car collided with a patrol car around 6:15 a.m.
Patrol car noticed too late
There was thick fog at the time of the accident. Despite the blue lights and the horn, the 29-year-old driver of the BMW noticed too late the police car, which was entering the intersection from Oberfeldstrasse at walking speed in order to turn left. He initiated emergency braking, but was unable to stop his car in time and slid into the police bus.
Disabilities in early morning traffic
The 29-year-old suffered minor injuries in the accident. He was taken to a hospital for further treatment. The officers survived the accident unscathed, the police said on Monday morning. While the accident was being recorded, the intersection area was difficult to pass for around three quarters of an hour. There were disruptions and waiting times in early morning traffic.
