After attack with ax and knife: Who saw Benjamin G.?

The victim suffered a cut to the neck and facial area, police announced on Monday. The suspect fled after the crime; he was probably traveling in a dark-colored Skoda Fabia station wagon. The search over the weekend turned out negatively. The Graz public prosecutor’s office is now ordering the publication of a photo of the suspect Benjamin G.

59-year-old in hospital after attack

Police officers from the Andritz inspection were called to Schönbrunngasse around 10 p.m. The victim’s wife called the emergency services via the police emergency number. According to initial investigations, the 43-year-old from Graz attacked his victim with an ax and two knives shortly before 10 p.m. The 59-year-old suffered a stab and cut injury to his head and neck. The rescue transported him to the LKH Graz. He was treated there as an outpatient.

Mystery about motive

Officers recovered what were believed to be the suspect’s weapons at the scene. Further investigations by the criminal department of the Graz City Police Command confirmed the suspicion that the 43-year-old had deliberately attacked his acquaintance. There was currently no information regarding the motive. The public prosecutor’s office ordered the arrest on suspicion of attempted murder. He could be on the run in his car with the Graz license plate. The man owns a gun that is legally registered to him. However, it is not certain whether he has this with him.

Police are asking for information

The man we are looking for is Austrian, 1.80 meters tall, slim and has long hair tied in a bun. He also has a larger and noticeable bump-like cyst above his right eye. The man was wearing a reflective jacket at the time of the crime.
