“It is impossible to imagine our society today without digital media. It is important to me that our students learn to use digital media early and competently,” says elementary school teacher Martina Ketterer-Hager. The so-called digi.case – a media package with analog and digital material for lessons – familiarizes elementary school students with digitalization.

In twelve strategy games, students should gain access to computer and logical thinking and creative problem solving. It starts with analog tasks in which the children use tools such as scissors, glue and paper. The problems are then solved on a digital level.

Use throughout Austria

“The digi.case is a groundbreaking project that gently introduces our children to the digital world and teaches them important skills for the future,” says Deputy State Governor Christine Haberlander (VP) during a visit to the Hagenberg elementary school.

Initially started as a pilot project, from this year’s school year to 2025/26, every primary and special school across Austria will be equipped with the media package to get started with digitalization. The aim is to use the digi.case to promote access to scientific subjects in elementary school.
