At the beginning of January 2024, the Upper Austrian State Criminal Police Office took over the targeted search for a 35-year-old. The suspect had been under arrest since July 2023 via a European arrest warrant from the Wels public prosecutor’s office.
The 35-year-old, together with two other people – who have already been convicted in this case – are said to have produced fake Spanish diplomatic passports, ID cards and vehicle documents and sold them to interested parties in Austria and Germany. The 35-year-old has not had a primary residence in Austria since 2016. He changed his residence between Turkey, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Last Thursday he was arrested in the Leibnitz district by officers from the Upper Austria State Criminal Police Office. After consultation with the public prosecutor’s office and the Steyr regional court, the 35-year-old was transferred to the Garsten prison.
