A 17-year-old and her 18-year-old boyfriend are said to have run over the owner of an Asian restaurant in Linz in August of the previous year. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries. The teenagers sped off and fled to Croatia, where they were arrested a few days later. Neither of them have a driver’s license.
The then 16-year-old, who lived with her mother in a community south of Graz, was behind the wheel. The passenger was the then 17-year-old from Graz. He had taken his mother’s car without her permission. He first drove to Carinthia with the girl and then to Linz.
The two ate there on August 9th at the running sushi restaurant, even though they had no money with them. They wanted to escape without paying, but the bar owner stood in their way in the parking lot. The young people knocked her down with the car and ran over her with the right front and rear wheels. According to the prosecution, the two deny intentionally running over the victim. Several witnesses and experts have been invited to the hearing. The accused face a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
