The Frente Amplio accused the coalition of stagnation and regression

The Political Table of the Broad Front (FA) approved and distributed a document in which it lists the series of “failures” of the government of the Multicolor Coalition headed by the president Luis Lacalle Pou; with which he will go out to campaign for the general elections that will take place in October in Uruguay.

The government failed. This is how it is titled FA the document in which he is strongly critical of the current government management, and in which he pointed out that “the miraculous changes that were promised in the election campaign “They do not translate into concrete results that improve people’s living conditions.” Even when the last year of Lacalle Pou’s administration is about to begin to be completed.

“The country has been stagnation and recoil. The majority of Uruguayans live worse and it is the result of the country model that the conservative coalition led by the blacksmithing, a model that seeks to favor the interests of privileged minorities, the ‘golden mesh’ to which our president alludes with so much enthusiasm,” the text added.

In that sense, the opposition measured the government from the “Commitment to the country” assumed in 2019 by the Republican Coalition, and assured that “none of the thirteen axes that structure the coalition contract with the citizens it has a successful balance.”

The failures of the government

The list of “failures” or criticisms of the Wide Front It does not include surprises or arguments that the opposition has not previously put forward. However, as the electoral campaign gains greater strength, the questions become more direct and, listed in the same text, take on another dimension.

“After four years of government the data is conclusive, wealth increased but remained concentrated in few hands,” the FA diagnosed, in summary.

Along these lines, the left coalition assured that “they promised to put their accounts in order and the result is an increase in external debt and the failure to fulfill the promise to lower the fiscal deficit that they denounced so much despite the cuts in salaries, retirements and social investment.” They also pointed to the facts of corruption and the weakening of control bodies against the promise of an “intelligent and transparent” State.

The opposition also pointed out the increase in fuel and taxes like VAT and the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) —from the change in calculation—; zero progress in the opening new markets despite the “fantastic” announcements; and the growth of insecurity throughout the national territory while “complaints are discouraged.”

Criticism also goes towards the education, the social programs and the health, with a “brutal budget cut”, the elimination of support programs and the deterioration of the management of the “unconcealable” health system.

“In the face of five years of stagnation, we propose to recover hope for Uruguay”, Finally, he proposed the document approved unanimously by the Frente-Amplista Political Table.
