Employees would have to disclose their Covid-19 vaccination status and upload appropriate evidence or apply for a medical or religious exemption, according to a memo from the company management.
CNBC reported that those who do not meet the regulations by January 18 will initially be sent on “paid compulsory leave” for 30 days. If the violation persists, the employee will then be released without pay for up to six months, the last step being the threat of dismissal. When asked by Reuters News Agency, Google did not comment on the CNBC report, but said: “We will do everything we can to help our vaccinated employees and we stand firmly behind our vaccination policy.”
