It was still early when a 40-year-old forklift driver from the Salzburg area wanted to unload a Czech driver’s truck in the warehouse of a shipping company on Wednesday. At around 7.20 a.m. he had just taken a pallet of steel sheets out of the truck and parked it nearby and was backing up when the 62-year-old truck driver unthreaded the tension straps on his trailer and also walked backwards – towards the forklift.

According to the forklift driver, the 62-year-old probably came into the forklift’s blind spot. The 40-year-old ran over the truck driver’s right foot with a rear wheel. The seriously injured Czech was treated by the emergency doctor and taken to hospital in a rescue helicopter.
