The former president of Antel and current candidate for Colorado Party, Gabriel Gurméndezpresented his candidacy this Tuesday and took the opportunity to shoot at the Wide Front and emphasize that his government would be focused on the fight against unsafety.
During Tuesday night, the presidential candidate launched his campaign at the Montevideo Music Box, a space that was also chosen by his party partner and former president of the Codicen, Robert Silva. In his speech, the politician highlighted the achievements of the ruling coalition, among which are the approval of the reform of social security and the education reform, although he admitted that it is time to move forward. “There is one more step to take,” she said.
The focus on security
Gurméndez took the example of the two-year-old boy murdered last week and which shocked the entire Uruguay. “We feel that sense of rebellion and pain in the face of what society challenges us. Because that two-year-old child in Pinar Norte… that bullet that killed him hurt us all,” he remarked.
“We know that there are answers to be given to early childhood and we know that we have to find a way to better care for our grandparents. We know that there are homes with mud floors and we know that we cannot bear more than the young Uruguayans are poisoned by the drug,” he added.
In that sense, he assured that there are two paths to take in relation to the fight against insecurity: that of the ruling coalition and that of the Wide Front. “These responses are the reasons why we cannot be passive in the face of the crossroads that the country has ahead of us this year. There are different answers,” he assured.
Criticism of the opposition
The pre-candidate took advantage of his promises to differentiate himself from Broad Front, a party that, according to Gurméndez, proposes another path when it comes to facing insecurity. “He Wide Front and the Pit-Cnt They once again propose the path of servitude, they once again try to make people believe that people’s problems are going to be solved with plans, from a State that ends up enslaving citizens, exhausts itself and does not finish doing the things it has to do. do,” he said.

With this, he assured that the path he is proposing is different. “We are on the path of accelerating the future. We want to give impetus as soon as possible to the necessary reforms to improve the lives of people in the country.
