In the future, it will enable the authorities to confiscate and auction the cars of notorious speeders who exceed excessive speed limits or take part in illegal car races. Confiscations are possible if a speed limit is exceeded by more than 80 km/h in local areas and by 90 km/h outside of town. Traffic lawyers continue to raise constitutional concerns.
The planned relief for communities in imposing a speed limit of 30 km/h in local areas was still controversially discussed. The municipalities should only be allowed to reduce the permitted maximum speed of 50 km/h on municipal roads on their own. But this only at “new Algic points”.
