“Oedt 1b and Donau actually want and have to get promoted. They stepped up their game again in the winter. We’ve shown that we can keep up and are hard to beat on a good day. We want to do that week after week in the spring too,” says Rohrbach-Berg’s coach Christian Eisschiel before the top game tomorrow in Traun (kick-off 3 p.m.). Last August the game was a clear affair: the autumn champions won 6-1. Eisschiel: “The first game of the second half of the season is always difficult and we have a tough challenge ahead against Traun.” The first Mühlviertel duel will also take place tomorrow: Schwertberg meets Putzleinsdorf. “Of course we want to win the first championship home game against strong Putzleinsdorfers, but it won’t be a sure-fire success,” says Schwertberg coach Wolfgang Gruber. The aim of the seventh-placed team is to regain the 24 points from the first half of the season. “Then we would be more than planned,” said Gruber.
For the other three Mühlviertel clubs Putzleinsdorf, Katsdorf and Naarn, the goal can only be to stay in the league. While Katsdorf has no game at the start, Naarn has a difficult game tomorrow. “With SC Marchtrenk we met a really strong opponent right from the start,” says Georg Wagner, assistant coach to Peter Riedl, the main trainer who was hired this week.
In the Upper Austrian League, SPG Pregarten is expecting an important game in the fight against relegation: The Nimmervoll team wants to win against bottom team FC/WSC Wels 1b. “We want to steal three points from Wels. But with 1b teams you never know which players from the first team are playing,” says Nimmervoll.
DSG Union Perg also doesn’t want to have anything to do with relegation. Coach Jürgen Prandstätter’s team is visiting Bad Leonfelden with new coach Hubert Zauner on Sunday. Prandstätter: “We want to write to home.” St. Martin plays in St. Valentin tomorrow. Coach Andreas Luksch’s goal: “We want to achieve the same number of points as in the fall.”
