Soldier is said to have shot four people

The other fatalities were his ex-partner’s new boyfriend, his mother and a friend of his ex-partner. The 32-year-old soldier turned himself in to the police after the crime.

While searching his car, investigators found a Molotov cocktail, firearm magazines and other ammunition. It was initially unknown whether the man had planned further acts.

The police were called to a single-family home in the Rotenburg district early on Friday morning because there had been a shooting there at around 3:30 a.m. The emergency services then made the gruesome discovery in the house. According to the police, after the crime, the soldier drove to a barracks in the city of Rotenburg (where he was not stationed), parked his car there – the guards finally alerted the police, who arrested the 32-year-old.

The motive for the crime is still unknown

The suspect’s motive is not yet known. The police do not rule out the possibility that there is “a motive in the family environment”. The public prosecutor’s office initially did not provide any information as to whether the suspect’s weapon came from the possession of the Bundeswehr.
