At its meeting on Thursday, the Linz City Senate gave the green light for the construction of a combined pedestrian and cycle path between Regensburger Straße and Posthofstraße. The approximately 150 meter long section will also be equipped with a tactile ground information system for visually impaired and blind people. The project closes a long-requested gap in the Industriezeile.

Part of the project is also the greening of the section, which should take place next autumn/winter. Work on the footpath and cycle path should start as soon as the weather permits. 80,000 euros are budgeted for its construction.

Traffic officer Vice Mayor Martin Hajart (VP) plans to expand the cycle path infrastructure in the area even further in the medium term. “With the hello yellow pump track from Schachermayer and the Cineplexx cinema, there are highly attractive meeting places for children, young people and the young at heart. You should be able to get here comfortably and safely without a car. To achieve this, we will improve the infrastructure step by step – depending on the availability of the necessary land,” announces Hajart.
