The Linz women lost the semi-final second leg of the Champions League against defending champions Tarnobrzeg 2:3 after they had already lost 0:3 at home. The Welsers had to admit defeat 1:3 in the semi-finals of the Europe Cup at Dzialdowo, just like in the home game.
This time, Austria’s women’s champion held up much better against the three-time Champions League winner than on Thursday, when they only won two sets. The Thai Suthasini Sawettabut, who initially played Yu Fu and then also ranked 13 in the world rankings, was particularly convincing. Yang Xiaoxin defeated each with 3:2. Sofia Polcanova lost to Yang 2:3, Anastasia Sterner lost to Elizabeta Samara 1:3 and Ivana Malobabic had to admit defeat to Yu Fu 0:3 in the fifth game.
For the Welsers, Andreas Levenko suffered two defeats and Felix Wetzel one, with Jiri Martinko taking the honorary point.
