National Council decided on minimum penalties for corona violations

Corona medication procurement

There are new framework conditions for the procurement of corona medication, for which the defacto cost cap falls. But there are also changes in the order mode. This is currently limited to procurement via the EU’s “Joint Procurement”. However, because some pharmaceutical manufacturers do not sell via the Union’s procurement program, bilateral contracts are necessary, which is why the procurement restrictions should be less restrictive. It was ensured that early retirement pensions can continue to be earned by retirees who return to their jobs in the health care system to fight the pandemic. Pharmacists and general practitioners are still allowed to carry out corona tests on people without symptoms. Social security contributions for meal vouchers for employees in the home office are no longer applicable.

A regulation will be extended until the middle of next year, with which the district administrative authority may provide the mayor with the contact details of a person affected by a segregation measure if the person lives on their territory and it is necessary for their care.

The provision that permanent substitution prescriptions can be issued without contact with a medical officer will also be extended up to and including June 2022. Members of the medical-technical laboratory service as well as graduates of a scientific or veterinary medical degree may continue to use laboratory methods that arise during the pandemic. Paramedics can, in turn, continue to perform tests and vaccinations related to COVID-19.

Protection of hospitals from corona deniers

A motion for a resolution that was vehemently rejected by the FPÖ and advocating an information campaign for children was adopted. The initiative was introduced by the SPÖ. Also apart from the Freedom Party, there was a resolution against fake news in connection with Corona. Only parts of the FPÖ and the other parliamentary groups as a whole voted for a motion for a resolution to protect hospitals in connection with the corona protests.

With the so-called OTA law, a job description and qualification profile was created for surgical assistance.
