Horowitz stressed in his report that four of those officials “lacked candor about their interactions with prostitutes and other inappropriate behavior” during mandatory interviews, thereby violating federal law.
He added that one of the officials “denied having participated in sexual acts with a prostitute.”
Soliciting a prostitute abroad while working for the FBI is considered a violation of Bureau of Investigation policy.
The inspector general also denounced that there were around 100 white pills, of which it was not reported that they were, that were delivered to a foreign official, according to the ANSA news agency.
One of the five members of the FBI “was not sincere” with the Inspector General “when the official denied having observed or placed pills in a package to be delivered to a foreign law enforcement officer.”
A sixth FBI official did not report the misconduct in violation of another Justice Department policy.
The inspector general said that of those who applied for prostitutes, two resigned, two retired and the fifth person was removed from office.
The report highlights that three of the agents also did not report on their interactions with foreign nationals.
There are no details in the report on where the prostitution request occurred or the names of the officials involved.
Founded in 1908 by John Edgar Hoover, Charles Joseph Bonaparte, and Theodore Roosevelt, the FBI is the principal criminal investigation agency of the United States Department of Justice.
It is not the first time that FBI agents have been involved in a scandal with prostitutes.
In April 2012, a Colombian prostitute revealed a sex scandal with then-President Barack Obama’s security agents.
