Officers from the Ried motorway police station were able to save three puppies from an illegal puppy trade yesterday morning. An attentive road user informed the police by telephone around 10:50 a.m. that a suspected illegal puppy trade was taking place in the Murau-Ost A8 motorway parking lot.

When the police patrol arrived, they discovered a van with a Bulgarian license plate in which three Pinscher puppies were kept in a cardboard box. The animals were given food and drink and taken to an animal clinic by the police. The 47-year-old Bulgarian driver was reported to the Ried district administration for violating the Animal Welfare and Animal Diseases Act.
