The Viennese cabaret artist Peter Panierer and the Lower Austrian Evelin Pichler are the prizewinners at this year’s Freistadt cabaret and cabaret competition “Frischling”. Panierer won the jury’s rating, while Pichler had the audience completely on her side with an inspiring performance. The jury said about Panierer’s program “Intro”: “Panierer tells the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Floridsdorf with authentic self-irony and plays with stereotypes.” Panierer has already won the Grazer Kleinkunstvogel in 2023. In addition to Panierer and Pichler, Suse Lichtenberger and Johannes Potmesil were seen at the Salzhof Freistadt on the freshman weekend.
The Frischling has been organized by the Local-Bühne Freistadt cultural association since 1995 and every year offers four artists the opportunity to present an excerpt from their current program. Gunkl won the first newcomer, other winners include Paul Pizzera, Martin Frank, Lisa Eckhart and Benedikt Mitmannsgruber. The winner can expect an appearance in Linz organized by the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor for Culture.
