At the Austrian figure skating championships, which recently took place in Graz, the titles in the “pupil” age group (up to 15 years) were also awarded. The ice skating club Gmunden was represented in this category with three runners. All three had only been able to prepare briefly for the competition after just overcoming illnesses, so that participation was uncertain until the end. The excellent performance of Marie Födinger (11), who fought for fifth place with a great freestyle, was all the more gratifying. “Unfortunately, one element was not counted, so she narrowly missed the squad points and possibly also bronze,” reports Doris Einstwanger, press spokeswoman for the Union Ice Skating Club in Gmunden.
Anna Födinger (13) and Leonore Hessenberger (11) presented themselves well and achieved personal best points.
