SPÖ, Greens and FPÖ pave the way for school center

With the votes of the SPÖ, Greens and Freedom Party, the Bad Ischl municipal council decided on the budget for 2022. It provides for income of 41.1 million euros and expenditure of 40.9 million euros, which means an expected surplus of 200,000 euros.

The construction of the new school center including a multi-purpose hall is also anchored in the budget. This and an increase in debt by 4.1 million euros are also the reason why the Citizens’ List Zukunft Ischl and MFG mandate Avanisha Filz-Tezlaf refused to approve the budget. City Councilor for Finance Johannes Bauer (Zukunft Ischl) and his party colleagues unsuccessfully called for a pause for reflection on the school center. “Let’s give ourselves half a year,” said Education Councilor Walter Erla (Future Ischl).

Mayor Ines Schiller (SPÖ) warned against “standstill”. The Green City Councilor Martin Schott also said: “Stopping the train now would be negligent.” Schott also welcomed ecological and climate policy accents in the budget, but demanded that the municipality also have to specifically improve its climate and energy balance.
