Tuesday with strikes in Montevideo and the rest of the country

In the capital, the Association of Teachers of Uruguay (Ademu) The first of three consecutive days with 24-hour zonal strikes began today.

The forceful measures respond to the sanction of three teachers in the capital: two of them, from school 35 in Buceo, were suspended for 30 days with withholding of salaries for having read a union proclamation against the educational reform in March of last year; and a third teacher, from school 407, was suspended for 10 days with salary withholding.

This Tuesday, the public schools in the western part of the country are affected by the strike. Montevideo. Tomorrow the educational centers in the center will do so and on Thursday, those in the east of the city.

Every day of a teacher strike, some 120 schools will have their activities affected, Subrayado reported.

No activity of private security guards

The National Union of Security Workers (Untrase) has been carrying out a 24-hour national strike since Monday at 10:00 p.m. to demand protection measures after the murder of a worker in the area, which occurred in North Carrasco.

The workers will gather this Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Cagancha Square and from there they will march to the Ministry of the Interior to deliver a letter and ask to be received by the authorities.

The national strike was called after a 44-year-old private security employee was murdered early Monday morning while carrying out his custodial activities.

The crime occurred in the vicinity of Paiva Road when a criminal entered a property with a shotgun, confronted the victim and shot him in the head. He then stole his motorcycle and set fire to the security checkpoint where he was.
