A tax-free bonus of 500 euros and a corona allowance for everyone who has to work in protective equipment. Numerous steps have already been taken to support health staff in hospitals and offices, say Health Councilor Christine Haberlander and Social and Care Councilor Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (both VP). Together with the Upper Austrian health holding company, they are currently working on their own working group to relieve the health staff.
Own nursing strategy
“We also understand that they are making their concerns known publicly – and like so many are currently choosing the means of demonstration,” says Hattmannsdorfer. For the coming year he announced the development of his own “nursing staff strategy”.
“We have an obligation to fight the virus before the gates of the hospitals. The further the number of cases falls, the more the vaccinations are used, the more the hospital staff can be relieved,” says Deputy Governor Haberlander.
In addition to the wage increases, improved working conditions have also been agreed, such as a reduction in working hours to “an almost 39-hour week”. The total cost of the care package is around 34 million euros a year.
