The National Ports Administration (ANP) called for bids for the construction of a terminal specialized in liquid bulk, which has the objective of providing the necessary infrastructure to promote the business of fuels based in renewable energy, especially the green hydrogen.

Advancement in the million-dollar business green hydrogen will require the development of adequate infrastructure. From there, from the ANP will launch a tender that will begin on April 4 for all private applicants who want to participate in the initiative, for which several bidders are expected.

The initiative was also presented by a private person, in this case the Ras Group, who presented the project for the construction of this terminal. He also has a plan to develop a green fuels refinery in the department of Cannelloni. From ANP, They assured that the group will have a certain advantage over the bidders since it was responsible for presenting the initiative.

The keys to construction

In dialogue with Informativo Uruguay, the vice president of ANP, Daniel Loureirogave the details of where the terminal will be built within the Port of Montevideo.

“The construction of a tank park is planned within the port area, connected by pipes that carry the biofuel to a berth to be built next to Pier C,” Loureiro explained.

In that sense, the terminal will be built near Pier C of the ANP and the UPM pulp and Obrinel bulk terminals.

In that sense, Curbelo maintained that the increase in January movement in the main Uruguayan port terminal was very significant: “We continue to retain the loyalty of the containerized cargo that comes from the Paraguay, from the south of Argentina and Brazil which is the component that makes us grow,” he highlighted.

According to the data of the ANP, 50% of the cargo moved in the port corresponds to the exports and imports, and the other half to cargo from third countries. “For us, this transshipment and transit load is very important to be able to achieve the objectives and to be able to continue growing,” remarked the head of the organization.
