Schiller announces injunction against Mathes

The last meeting before Christmas ends in the Bad Ischl municipal council traditionally amicably and with Christmas wishes from each parliamentary group.

The SPÖ was apparently not in the mood this year. After the violent attacks by the Citizen List Zukunft Ischl on Mayor Ines Schiller and her party during the election campaign, press releases from the Citizens List in recent weeks broke the barrel. The citizens’ list distributed misleading figures about the city’s debt level and, most recently, incorrect figures about Schiller’s salary as well as means of disposal and representation expenses (“mayor’s pocket money”). Information that had been adopted by some media without being checked.

“It takes a lot of energy to sit next to someone who only makes me bad week after week in the media,” says Schiller, who sits on the local council next to the head of the citizen lists, Hannes Mathes. And Schiller announced: “There will be an injunction against Vice Mayor Hannes Mathes.”

Mathes reacted calmly. The SPÖ is apparently not used to criticism, he said. And: “We obviously hit the mark.”

Councilor Marija Gavric (SPÖ) accused the citizens ‘list of deceiving voters because the founder of the Ischl ÖVP citizens’ list, Walter Erla, is referred to as the “highest ranking VP functionary”.

The Greens in the local council got up during the dispute and closed the meeting.
