It is still unclear why the two vehicles collided head-on. Both drivers, who were alone in their vehicles, were injured in the serious accident. After initial care, they had to be taken to the Passau and Ried hospitals. The 24-year-old was not drunk; according to the police, an alcohol test on the 37-year-old was positive. “He had 1.72 per mille in his blood,” says Ulrike Handlbauer from the Upper Austria State Police Directorate to the OÖN.
Both cars were totaled. The cleanup work was carried out by the Hackendorf Volunteer Fire Department.
