Dieter Wagenbichler has not only been active on the board of the Raab Cultural Association for many years, but in addition to his preference for jazz music, he also has a special flair for photography. So it’s no surprise that he used his camera to capture the energy and dynamism of jazz at the cultural association’s numerous concerts and captured it in impressive images. The result is impressive photographs that the cultural association will exhibit on the occasion of its 45th anniversary at the start of the season on Friday, March 15th, from 7 p.m. in the rooms of the Raab Music School. This evening the association will once again live up to its name “Art and Culture”, because in addition to the exhibition, the international jazz trio “Vedovelli/Flagar/Eberle” will present their new program at the new concert starting time at 8 p.m. The music is characterized by chamber music sounds that are brought to the stage with desire and passion.
“Good level”
Desire and passion are also two attributes that characterize the work of the Raaber Cultural Association. Since 1979, the region’s cultural offerings have been enriched with creative, special and often unique events. “We have had a good level for 45 years. For this we are very valued throughout the scene and beyond,” says founding member Rudolf Wötzlmayr. Clubs like the one in Raab would only exist sporadically in Upper Austria. Accordingly, we are already a number in this “small, fine area,” says Wötzlmayr.
They have a good feeling for up-and-coming musicians, explains Johanna Wagner, who works on the board together with her husband.
“We have made a lot of personal contacts over the decades. That benefits us. We can’t offer a big fee, but we can offer a hall with great acoustics and a great audience,” says Wötzlmayr.
Transferred enthusiasm
The cultural association has been working successfully with the Raab music school for many years, where the majority of the events take place. We want to continue to maintain this contact in order to get more young people interested in jazz music in the future. “The genre is constantly evolving and now combines many international influences. That’s what makes it so interesting,” says Peter Wagner. The concert selection is about a special sound spectrum and listening experience that is somewhat different from the mainstream.
“We choose music that should appeal to ourselves and the audience. If you are not completely behind the program, your enthusiasm cannot be passed on to others,” says Johanna Wagner. Looking over the decades, it can be said that this has worked quite well in Raab so far.
