Huge rush of energy savers to the Wels trade fair

Not even the boldest optimists had expected such an onslaught. What happened on yesterday’s first public day at the WeBuild energy saving trade fair (March 8th to 10th) made the hearts of all 380 exhibitors beat faster: “The attendance is above average, the demand is huge,” said Gerhard Schöfberger, sales manager at Froling.

After a few months of total standstill due to delays in the Renewable Heat Act (EWG), the market leader for biomass boilers is on the rise again. His industry is brimming with optimism at “WeBuild”.

While the first crowds began to gather in the exhibition halls in the morning, politicians met for the traditional rendezvous at the opening ceremony. “With this trade fair we want to express our shared passion for energy efficiency and sustainability,” said trade fair president Peter Franzmayr, getting his guests in the mood for the upcoming trade fair days.

State Economics Councilor Markus Achleitner (VP) was able to offer superlatives: “Our compatriots are driving the energy transition forward. We are moving at top speed.” By 2024, the country will have more than 100,000 PV systems. With the abolition of sales tax at the beginning of the year, demand continued to rise, emphasized Green Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler in her opening speech.

“We have tripled the renovation bonus”

Renewable energy is driven by billions of dollars from the state. “We have tripled the renovation bonus. Up to 100 percent is supported when replacing heating systems. We have counted 40,000 new applications since January 1st,” revealed Gewessler.

A long queue formed in front of the Energy Saving Association stand. Despite the enormous rush, consultant Karl Fürstenberger was pleased about the great interest of the visitors: “I have been at this trade fair since 1991. This year, however, I have a particularly good feeling. People are not only informing themselves, but are also taking action.”

Even in the market for single-family homes, which has recently come to a standstill, the first signs of spring are stirring: “With the stricter regulations of the KIM regulation and the increase in interest rates, orders have fallen. Now we want clear statements from politicians. People want to build. The interest is here and it’s not getting any cheaper,” says Karl Heinz Karpf from the Hartl-Haus company.
