Anyone who thinks about buying a new car these days quickly comes to the crucial question: Which drive system should it be? These and many other questions regarding cars will be answered again next weekend in the Design Center – at the 52nd edition of the Linz Car Spring.

A good 200 new, highly polished vehicles will be available on Saturday and Sunday (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). The 17 participating dealers and one guest exhibitor from the greater Linz area represent 40 brands – the Chinese brand BYD and the Fisker Ocean, built by Magna in Graz, are taking part for the first time. The Korean brand Ssangyong is celebrating a comeback.

Visitors can open and close car doors, hoods, tailgates and trunk lids in direct contact with the object of desire on four wheels. And they can taste and test sit.

“Every visitor will find the right vehicle for themselves at the car spring,” says Michael Schmidt, president of the oldest continuous car show in Austria. “In total, the vehicles on display represent a value of twelve million euros,” said Ernest Wipplinger, spokesman for the car spring, at a press conference on Friday.

The cheapest car on display this year is a Hyundai i10 with a list price of 16,480 euros. At the other end of the line, the Mercedes-AMG GT costs 288,519 euros.

E-mobility on the rise

The number of electrified cars on display has increased significantly. This year, around 80 percent already have an alternative drive (mild hybrid, full hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric car). 30 percent of the cars shown are fully electric.

Speaking of electric cars: there are 20 charging stations available for free charging between the Design Center and Franckstrasse for visitors who arrive at the car spring with their electric car. Keba, the Linz-based specialist for electric car charging solutions, is building this temporary charging park together with Linz AG.

Numerous innovations

Visitors can expect numerous new products at the exhibition stands. For example, the brand-new Peugeot e-3008 will be on display, as will the Mini Countryman, the affordable Citroën ë-C3, the Lexus LBX, the Toyota C-HR and the refreshed Skoda models.

Visitors can also look forward to tempting offers: “Buying a car is currently much more attractive than it was a year or two ago,” said Christoph Günther from the multi-brand car dealership of the same name in Linz. “The warehouses are full, we have full availability again. And therefore the actual purchase prices are lower than a year ago.” There are more marketing campaigns, discounts or cheap leasing offers with low fixed interest rates starting at 0.99 percent, said Günther.

If you look at the number of sales contracts, the car trade definitely had a better start to the year than in the previous year, emphasized Günther.

OÖN is giving away a Cupra Born

In addition to the traditional car stands, there are other exhibitors on different topics, such as Linz AG or the mobility clubs ARBÖ and ÖAMTC.

A highlight of the car spring is at the OÖNachrichten stand: a fully electric Cupra Born is being raffled off here.
