Danced world premiere in Linz

A week before Christmas it is like a gift to be able to dance in front of an audience again. At least that is how those responsible at the Red Sapata Tanzfabrik feel that the world premiere of the project “As Above, So Below” by Jung In Lee Creation on December 17 and 18 from 7.30 p.m. does not have to be just a digital experience.

In the Sonnenstein Loft in the old Kunstuni building on Reindlstraße in Urfahr, the co-production of an Austrian and a South Korean team will be able to take place in front of an audience (with 2G rule and FFP2 mask requirement). The basic idea of the piece is the perpetual cycle of life, which cannot be changed or stopped. Just as little as the unique movements created by the 20 elastic bands in the room. The aim is that the audience can enjoy the various scenes and elements of the dance and interpret the story themselves. “We want to show the audience a new perspective on dance and give them philosophical food for thought,” says team manager Hanna Furtmüller.

It is an international troupe that will bring the dance piece to the stage. Before Jung In Lee, the founder of Lee Jung In Creation, came to Linz, she had already lived in Berlin and Sofia. She traveled to a number of countries with her projects, which gave her a taste for creations in new places. With her wide-ranging experience as a dancer and choreographer, she began a new art exchange between South Korea and abroad.

Because her husband wanted to study at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, she got to know the RedSapata dance factory team here. In 2016 she and her husband moved to Linz and since then she has been developing various dance pieces in Linz and South Korea. The dancers were carefully selected at an audition in Linz. Many of them have their own center of life in Linz.
