Judo: Polleres third in Linz, Fasching surprised in fifth

In the fight for third place in the Golden Score, the Olympic silver medalist Polleres defeated the Japanese Moka Kuwagata, who received three warnings (Shido). But then it happened quickly. “It’s bitter to be thrown with Ippon so quickly after just a few seconds,” said the Viennese, commenting on the defeat against Togo, but he was very satisfied with his overall performance. Austria’s strongest 81 fighter, Olympic bronze medalist Shamil Borchashvili, decided not to compete. His brother Wachid Borchashvili lost his first fight.

All other participants from Austria in the Saturday weight classes up to 73 and up to 81 kg (men) and up to 63 and up to 70 kg (women) were also eliminated early. Including Lubyana Piovesana (up to 63), the winner of the Baku Grand Slam, lost in her first fight.
