A motorcycle ride ended up in the hospital for a couple on Saturday afternoon. A 28-year-old from the Amstetten district and her 27-year-old friend from the Linz-Land district were on the B119 towards Grein around 4 p.m. The machine was driven by the woman from Lower Austria. Her boyfriend, who was riding pillion, had given her the bike for this ride.
Brought to the hospital by helicopter
The driver lost control of the two-wheeler in a left-hand bend. She slipped against the guard rail where the motorcycle became wedged. The woman slipped under the guardrail and was seriously injured. Her friend was thrown onto the road. He survived the accident with minor injuries and rushed to his partner’s aid.
Two motorcycle drivers who had observed the accident also provided first aid and notified the emergency services. The injured couple were taken to the Amstetten State Hospital by rescue helicopter and ambulance, the police said on Saturday evening.
