The 66-year-old failed to get off a chairlift at the mountain station in the Spieljoch ski area in Fügen in Tyrol’s Zillertal on Saturday morning. An employee stopped the lift and instructed the skier to remain seated in the chair until the exit point opposite.

However, the German then jumped from the chairlift from a height of around one and a half meters. He was seriously injured. The man was first taken to the gondola station with Akia and Skidoo, police said. From there, an emergency medical helicopter flew the German to the Schwaz hospital.
