ÖFB team in Nations League against France, Denmark and Croatia

The first game dates are set from June 2 to 14, with four games per team being played during this period. The remaining two matches will take place between September 22nd and 27th.

The group winners will fight for the Nations League title in June 2023, while the bottom of the group will be relegated to League B. ÖFB team boss Franco Foda said in an initial reaction on ORF: “A very interesting group and a great challenge, especially with the world champion and the runner-up. The games will be exciting, we want to take away one point or the other.”

France – according to Foda the absolute top favorite in the group – is the reigning world champion, Nations League defending champion and peppered with top stars like Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema. However, at the latest EURO, the end came in the last sixteen against Switzerland. Croatia also said goodbye at the European Championships in the round of 16, the vice world champions Spain had to bow after extra time.

The Danes, on the other hand, only failed at the EURO in the semi-finals to England. The ÖFB team felt how strong “Danish Dynamite” is in the last World Cup qualification – at home it was 0: 4, away it was 0: 1. “I would have liked a different team instead of Denmark. On the other hand, it gives us the opportunity to take revenge. We sold ourselves under value in these two games,” said Foda.
