Pure drama at first – and a little at the end “Gijon”

There was pure drama at the end of the regular season of the Bundesliga. Four different teams had dropped out of the top six over the course of the 90 minutes. In the end, Vienna Austria had to settle for seventh place despite the 2-0 win against WSG Tirol because Klagenfurt and Rapid played out a 1-1 draw in a game that was dramatic and intense for long stretches.

5:29 p.m. – Hartberg (Austria Vienna is out): The fact that Sturm Graz takes a 1-0 lead in Hartberg through Boving as planned is no problem for Hartberg (29th).

5.39 p.m. – Klagenfurt: Klagenfurt presses, but SK Rapid scores the goal. Christoph Lang scores from close range to make it 1-0 (39th).

5:40 p.m. – Vienna (Hartberg is outside): Practically at the same time, Vienna Austria took a 1-0 lead thanks to a handball from Dominik Fitz. Now the Violets would be up – and Hartberg would be out.

6:27 p.m. – Hartberg (Klagenfurt is outside): With Donis Avdijaj’s 1-1 equalizer for Hartberg against Sturm, the Styrians are in the championship group. Klagenfurt would be outside because of the direct duel against Austria.

6:32 p.m. – Klagenfurt (Austria Vienna is out): Klagenfurt’s Christopher Wernitznig checked the equalizer for minutes – and the original offside was canceled. This means that Vienna Austria is out again.

6.55 p.m. – Klagenfurt (Austria Vienna stays out): There are no more attacks – every successful cross pass from your own team is cheered by the fans. In the end the game is reminiscent of “Non-aggression pact” between Germany and Austria at the 1982 World Cup in Gijon, Spain. It is logical that both teams are no longer taking any risks after the intense match before. There is too much at stake until referee Ebner blows his whistle after 96 minutes.
