The group Cristina Help Ministries, based in the state of Ohio, specified that the group was of 12 adults between 18 and 48 years of age and five children between 8 months and 15 years of age.

At the beginning, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of one million dollars, for each one, as reported to AFP.
FBI agents, Haitian authorities, and the Police anti-kidnapping unit had negotiations with the gang prior to their release.
