The Aktivpass has been helping low-income Linzers for 35 years. On the one hand, you can use the Linz Linien public transport network for just 15.80 euros, and on the other hand, you get reduced admission to museums, swimming pools or libraries. Last year, everyone in Linz who earned less than 1,424 euros net per month was eligible. In the current year, the benchmark rate is €1,547 in net income per person per month. “With the Active Pass, the city has developed an extremely effective means of specifically supporting people with low incomes,” says social officer, Vice Mayor Karin Hörzing (SP).

Number of recipients declining

As of December 31, 2023, exactly 26,909 active passes had been issued. This corresponds to a decrease of 1,141 recipients compared to 2022. The largest group is employed people, followed by pensioners and those receiving unemployment or emergency assistance. 73 percent are women, 52.7 percent have Austrian citizenship. Arranged by district, most recipients live in Kleinmünchen-Auwiesen, followed by Urfahr and the Inner City.
