The Braunau landmark, the parish church of St. Stephan, urgently needs to be renovated. Since the parish also has to make a large financial contribution, it relies on donations. And for help. The Braunau Goldhoods also feel connected to the “Braunauer Steffl” and want to make a contribution with a traditional costume market. “Even though the gold hood is non-denominational, it is still closely linked to church holidays. Many a procession or festival day is adorned with it; it gives it dignity and something very special. Because we are all connected to our roots – and for that the gold hood is up,” says chairwoman Angelika Gerner.
Anything that is “traditional”.
On April 13th and 14th you will be invited to the charity market under the motto “Second hand traditional costume fashion”. The aim is to sell well-preserved dirndls, jewelry, headgear, lederhosen, knitwear, accessories, blouses and everything else that is “traditional” – all for the interior renovation of the city parish church. The Gold Hood women also collect clothing donations for this purpose. “We’re looking for everything that’s ‘traditional’ and hanging in the box. It’s exactly these pieces that we want to bring back to people,” says Gerner. Anyone who has traditional costumes that would otherwise just stay in the closet and should be given a “second life” can do so in the Braunau-St. parish hall. Hand over to Stephan. Donations of traditional clothing will be accepted on the following dates: Wednesday, March 13th (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), Saturday, March 16th (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.), Sunday, March 17th (8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.), Wednesday, March 20 , 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), and Friday, March 22 (3 p.m. to 7 p.m.). The donations of clothing and money will go entirely to the renovation of the church.
