The amount of contributing positions in it Social Security Bank (BPS) broke a historical record by reaching 1,550,068 for the first time, according to the institution’s official January data.

In this way, the indicator of the B.P.S. which was already at high levels, surpassed its highest mark, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.37%, while, in the comparison with last December, the improvement is 0.79%, pushing up the employment.


The largest number of contributing positions was concentrated in the age group that goes from 30 to 59 years old, with 1,087,360, followed far by the 19 to 29 age group, with 328,770. Further back, there were 123,287 people over 60 years old and 10,651 people up to 18 years old.
Regarding the items, the most representative was Trade wholesale and retail (260,627), followed by Public administration and defense (192,115), Agricultural production, forestry and fishing (139,609), Manufacturing industries (134.151) and Social services and related to human health (119,071).
If analyzed by geographical area, the vast majority corresponds to Montevideo (682,861), followed by cannelloni (234,615) and completing the podium with Maldonado (108,706).

How much did the BPS allocate in benefits during 2023?
