Orgasm Pope: No dismissal, but a media muzzle

The dismissed educator Monika Ring and her lawyer Manfred Arthofer

At the end of the year, Monika Ring from Lower Austria, who had been working as a teacher at a primary school in the Mühlviertel since 2016, was dismissed from her school service in Upper Austria. The reason for this was her part-time work as a consultant on the sex lives of older people. You could call it a “love coach”, she herself appears on her social media profiles as the “orgasm popess”.

“Ring against the state of Upper Austria”

Her lawyer has filed a lawsuit with the labor and social court in Linz to challenge the dismissal without notice. On Tuesday both parties met in the “Ring against the State of Upper Austria” case.

As expected, there has been no judicial decision yet, but there has been a rapprochement. A comparison that the judge tried to explore seems within the realm of possibility. The “no notice” could be converted into a mutual termination at the end of January 2024 if further “reporting is omitted,” according to the defendant employer’s offer.

A question of wording

The plaintiff’s lawyer briefly left the courtroom with the orgasm popess to discuss this. He then explained that he could imagine an “amicable” meeting at the end of February. When it comes to refraining from continuing to appear in the media, it depends on the specific wording, said Arthofer.

The lawyer for the Education Directorate made it clear that it was impossible for Ring to ever teach as a teacher in the state of Upper Austria again.

The plaintiff’s representative countered that by challenging the dismissal they wanted to “keep the door open to other federal states where people see the whole thing more calmly,” as he put it in a TV interview after the trial.

“Body-related services”?

For the representative of the opposing side, however, more than one dismissal situation has occurred. So Ring made a posting that said: “Let me touch you. Every Monday at 9 p.m. for 49 euros.” That sounds like a “commercially oriented body-oriented service”.

Ring’s lawyer denied the claim that the consultations took place via “Zoom”. If you haven’t reached an agreement out of court by then, you’ll see yourself in court again at the end of May. End of the negotiation.
