A Russian military transport plane with 15 people on board HE crashed because of a fire in one of its engines in the region of Ivanovo, northeast of Moscowindicated the Ministry of Defense without specifying whether there were survivors.
“An Il-76 military transport plane crashed in the Ivanovo region while taking off,” and on it were eight crew and seven passengersdeclared the ministry, quoted by Russian press agencies.
How the fire occurred on the plane
According to the first elements of the investigation, the incident occurred after one of the engines caught fire during takeoff, the ministry added.
The military is trying to determine the exact causesstated the Russian agencies.
Meanwhile, in videos published on social networks you can see a plane with one of its wings wrapped in flames.
Technical problems, a constant in Russian military aircraft
The accidents of military aircrafts due to technical problems are relatively common in Russia.
But the country has also suffered several air disasters related to its offensive against Ukrainereleased in February 2022.
At the moment, no element indicates that Tuesday’s accident, which occurred hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is linked to the Russian offensive.
