Due to Sierning, the car is no longer racing and driving noticeably slower. This is the positive effect of the fact that the center of the market town has been declared a 30 zone. A negative consequence is that more drivers than feared are no longer familiar with the new priority rules. The change in the maximum speed to 30 kilometers per hour is accompanied by the introduction of the legal rule in terms of traffic law. Subordinate signs in Seilergasse, Neustraße, Hochstraße and Steyrerstraße had to be unscrewed in accordance with the new legal requirements. According to the legal rule, drivers suddenly have to wait for roadmates on previous back roads. Thank goodness all drivers put on the brakes in view of the unfamiliar conditions, which is why “only” the flow of traffic comes to a standstill.
“We drew attention to the new situation,” says Mayor Richard Kerbler (SP), “but the communications to all Sierningers got stuck with the post office for a long time,” which is why the priority changes worked like a “night and fog” campaign would have. Kerbler points out that the district authority at some intersections, where there are now ambiguities, can repeal the legal rule and initiate a new regulation. “We will now gather experience,” says Kerbler, “and then work with the authorities to adapt the situation to the needs.”
