In the past few years since the Corona pandemic, new car prices have risen sharply. The reasons for this were varied: semiconductor shortages, interrupted supply chains, the war in Ukraine and sharply increased energy costs. New cars were suddenly in short supply and could be sold at very good prices for some time. After all, you had to be happy that you got a car at all.

But now the wind has changed, vehicle production is running at full speed again – and the warehouses are filling up, as are the car dealers’ spaces. The list prices are still high, but the actual sales prices are lower than in 2022 and 2023. Marketing campaigns, discounts and short-term registrations are responsible for this in order to stimulate sluggish sales.

40 brands, 200 new cars

Seen in this way, the 52nd edition of the Linz Car Spring comes at exactly the right time. Next Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., around 200 highly polished new vehicles will be available to test drive and inspect in the Design Center.

And the exhibiting dealers, who will be bringing vehicles from a total of 40 brands to Linz this year, have already announced numerous attractive trade fair promotions.

Purchase prices are currently attractive

“Yes, the purchase is cheaper than in 2022 or 2023″confirms Ernest Wipplinger, spokesman for the Linz Auto Spring and dealer with locations in Steyregg and Leonding, in an interview with OÖN. “After the manufacturers can deliver again, marketing campaigns and discounts are needed to get the numbers in.”

“At the car spring, every visitor will find the vehicle that suits them best”adds Michael Schmidt, president of the auto show.

There’s driving fun to be won at the OÖNachrichten Auto Spring stand: This year, a fully electric Cupra Born worth 44,900 euros will be raffled off.

The classy five-door model is one of the most popular electric cars, and not just in Austria.
