I will respect justice

The mayor on leave Montevideo and presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio (FA), Carolina Cosseasked this Wednesday to respect the time of justice when consulted about the complaint against her internal rival Yamandu Orsi for attacking a trans.

“Now there is a complaint filed, in the corresponding areas, which are areas that have guarantees for everyone and, therefore, on this issue it is in the hands of justice, I am not going to make any more statements. It is appropriate that do,” she said when consulted by Telemundo.

Cosse was referring to the formal filing before the Prosecutor’s Office of a complaint for alleged sexual assault committed by Orsi, 10 years ago, against a trans sex worker. According to the complainant, the leader of her FA refused to pay her for the oral sex she had performed on him, hit her and threw her out of her car.

“Now there is this new information, which is in Justice and I am going to respect Justice, as always, I believe that it is the area that provides guarantees for everyone,” the mayor insisted while at a campaign event in Leap.

Cosse, who spoke with Orsi after his statement to the press on Sunday where he described the accusation against him as “nonsense,” also said that there was a statement from the Frente Amplio, to which he adhered.

He thus referred to the statement of the FA political table that supported the former mayor of Canelones and framed the accusation – at that time made on social networks by the activist of the Romina Celeste National Party– in a dirty election campaign.

“I hope it is not part of the campaign. It would be very bad for the history of Uruguay,” Cosse reflected.
