84% of the foreign companies respondents are satisfied with the investment climate existing in Uruguay and 40% would reinvest in the next five years, according to the results of this survey carried out by Uruguay XXI with the support of the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry.
The key factors to invest in the country according to the monitoring are the economic, political and social stabilities reflected in the institutionality. Also 47% highlight the existence of tax exemptions and incentives and exchange freedom (44%), among other arguments.
The work also collects opinions from businessmen on the pending issues of the Uruguay in the short and medium term.
“The challenges that companies pose, which are the aspects to work on, are associated with the costs of the country and also to human capital“, said Mariana FerreiraManager of Competitive Intelligence of Uruguay XXI who, together with the director of the methodological laboratory of the Consulting Teams, Santiago Peyrou, presented the results. “It is important to show that of the total number of companies that responded, which were 235, only 13 expressed dissatisfaction with Uruguay as a country to do business in. “Those are 5% of the cases,” he added.

For his part, the director of Uruguay XXI, Sebastian Risso, expressed that with these figures “Uruguay is positioned as a place where companies not only want to establish themselves, but also grow and prosper.” In this sense, he highlighted figures contained in the report that indicate that 80% of the companies surveyed invested in the last 5 years, almost half to expand their business. In addition, 40% of companies indicated that it is highly likely that they will continue investing in the next five years.
“More than 8 out of 10 foreign companies are satisfied, or very satisfied, with the business environment What is there in Uruguay. It is the responsibility of all Uruguayans to continue like this, and I believe we are on the right path,” said Risso.
Satisfaction in government
For their part, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Omar Paganiniand Industry, Energy and Mining, Elisa Faciodid not hide their satisfaction with the results.
“There is a very noticeable increase in satisfaction, which shows that the Uruguay It is a good place to invest and it is receiving investment. To give you an idea, from the survey prior to this one, satisfaction rose from 47 to 84% of those surveyed in global terms,” highlighted the chancellor. “Uruguay’s stability is highlighted in institutional terms, in terms of rules of the game and compliance with contracts, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the positive structure we have in terms of communications, infrastructure in general, access to human resources” he expressed.
At the same time, the MIEM minister considered that “all Uruguayans want the best for our country and we understand that with greater investment there will be more and better work and more freedom.”
