Rohrbach-Berg is becoming fit for the future. The starting signal for this was marked by the groundbreaking ceremony by Broadband Upper Austria to further expand the fiber optic infrastructure in the community. Rohrbach-Berg is a funding area from the federal government’s second broadband billion. That same funding area is now being supplied with fiber optic infrastructure.

“The large-scale expansion of the fiber optic infrastructure strengthens the region as an attractive place to live and work and, above all, contributes to bringing Upper Austria to the top in a European comparison. Areas like Rohrbach-Berg can be significantly strengthened economically as a result,” they said happily the managing directors of BBOÖ Thomas Matthey and Martin Wachutka.

“Important competitive advantage”

Mayor Andreas Lindorfer added: “For us as a municipality, the continued supply of fiber optic infrastructure represents an important competitive advantage.” In the support area of the municipality of Rohrbach-Berg, the expansion will give almost 750 households the opportunity to connect to the infrastructure. A further 1,150 connections are already in operation. In the entire Rohrbach district, around 9,500 buildings with at least one empty pipe have already been completed in 34 of the 37 municipalities, and around 3,500 more are currently being planned and built.

For anyone interested, the BBOÖ is organizing an information afternoon on April 12th together with some Internet providers from its open network. From 1 p.m., visitors can find out about the providers’ products and services in the hall of the Rohrbach Chamber of Commerce. The Strabag company will also be on site to answer questions about the expansion.

A big advantage of BBOÖ is its open network, which allows end customers to freely choose an Internet provider. There are currently 14 Internet providers represented in the BBOÖ partner network. Anyone interested who has not yet ordered a connection to the fiber optic infrastructure can do so at bbooe.at.
