The Buchleitenwehr hydroelectric power station is no longer a vision. It was put into operation a few days ago after a six-month construction period and is intended to generate clean electricity for around 200 households in Upper Austria. The energy supplier KWG, based in Schwanenstadt, announced this yesterday. Existing resources are used for this purpose.
At the Buchleiten weir in the municipality of Desselbrunn there is a diversion from the Ager to several hydroelectric power plants. In order to use the remaining water in the Ager for energy after it has been discharged, a new hydroelectric power plant was built in the form of a hydroelectric screw with an output of 105 kW. The financing of the new power plant was partly supported by citizen participation.
The commissioning and test operation were successful; at the moment only minor remaining work is in progress.
