Writing autographs and posing for photos with supporters – that was the main task of the Steinbach Black Wings cracks on Friday evening. If a few things had happened differently in the past two weeks, Game 7 in Salzburg would have been on the agenda at this point.
The autograph and selfie hunters – around 700 followers accepted the Black Wings’ invitation to the VIP rooms – were satisfied with the haul. Only the seat of Sean Collins, who traveled to the USA to visit his heavily pregnant wife on Thursday, remained empty. Collins, whose contract was automatically extended by one year through a clause, can look forward to a contract extension with fans and players: Captain Brian Lebler will stay in Linz for two more years and play his seasons 13 and 14 in the Black Wings’ uniform, as announced during the event.
