The Vienna State Police Department reported this on Friday. The child apparently fell on a grassy area, which cushioned the impact. A witness alerted the emergency services, the two-year-old was then given emergency medical care by the Vienna professional rescue service and taken to a hospital.

The Vienna Health Association reported on request on Friday that the child’s condition was critical but stable. According to the police, the accident occurred because the child’s mother opened the windows to ventilate the room and briefly left the room to use the toilet.
The two-year-old was briefly unsupervised in the room. The child and youth welfare services of the city of Vienna were informed about the incident and further investigations were underway.
